John Smith

Thanks - I am back at the beach and swapped out the sensors from my old unit and the problem is solved. You can close this case now.

Hello John Smith,

Good day!

I tried calling you but the number you have provided says it is in Mexico so the call cannot go through. There are 2 parts here that deals with the temperature which are the over temp sensor and the outlet temp sensor(see attached photo). You mentioned that you have an old unit. You can try swapping the sensors from there and if it works then you can purchase these 2 parts from our site. See link below. Or before you purchase, you can try the parts from your working one to this unit and see if it would resolve the issue. If it does, then you have the purchase the parts since your unit is already pout of warranty but we can give you free shipping.

I bypassed the overheat sensor/switch with same results. It will turn on and heat for maybe a minute and then shut off. The temperature changes even when the unit is not making hot water. It can be off for hours and the temperature changes large increments in a matter of seconds. It is constantly changing and it doesn't matter if it is burning gas or not.

Hello John Smith ,

Good day!

We apologize for the inconvenience. Please try these additional instructions for your FVI12-LP.

  1. Bypass the over temp sensor(see attached photo). Connect the 2 wires cover with blue boots together and run the unit again if the temperature would still fluctuate.
    2. Make sure the the water inlet filter is clean. The 65F is the ground temperature reading. Increase water pressure if needed. Please maintain 40-60 PSI of water pressure to sustain the unit's performance.
    3. Set the water temperature knob to maximum and the gas temperature knob to minimum. If you need to raise the temperature, just leave the water knob to max and just mix the temperature with the gas dial knob.
    4. Try to perform the water pressure adjustment(below link).

NOTE: Turn both screws clockwise until resistance is felt. Once the screws are in closed position, please turn both counterclockwise just 1/8 of a turn.

The temperature gauge is jumping all over the place. With the unit plugged in and no water flow the temperature jumps from the 60's to as high as 150. Frequently changing.
