Your water heater comes with a rubber gasket in the box. The exhaust connection on your water heater is slightly smaller than 3", which is why the gasket is required.
The rubber gasket is essential for a proper and safe installation. Without it, your 3” vent kit will not fit correctly.
Step-by-Step Installation Guide
Prepare the Rubber Gasket
Slide the rubber gasket onto the rim of the 3” venting piece of your choice. The gasket has a crevice that should open up to fit over the venting.
Attach the Venting Piece
Next, slide the venting piece with the gasket onto the exhaust of your 20HI-NG/LP. You should feel a secure fit.
Secure the Fit
Push the venting piece all the way down to ensure a tight fit. Proceed with the rest of your vent installation.
