How to replace the microswitch on your portable water heater (L5, L7, L10, EL5, EL7, EL10)

Updated over 6 months ago

Follow the steps below to replace the Microswitch on your portable water heater on the models L5, L7, L10, EL5, EL7, and EL10.

  1. Remember to remove the knobs first.

  2. Unscrew the screws located at the top and bottom of the water heater.

  3. Gently remove the cover by sliding the cover up towards the top and mind the wires and the on/off switch.

  4. Locate the Microswitch in the center of the Gas/Water Valve assembly and held on by 2 screws. Unscrew the 2 screws and set them aside in a safe place.

  5. Disconnect the Microswitch from the Solenoid.

  6. Connect the new Microswitch to the solenoid and use the 2 screws to screw it back into its original place.

  7. After making sure your batteries are new and in place, pull the small metal lever on the side of the microswitch to ensure it clicks. For this step, the unit must be upright.
